Privacy policy

Last updated: July 2026

SYE ("we", "us") runs the website at sweyoung.com. This page explains what we collect, why, and how to have it removed. It is written to be read rather than to cover us.

When you request entry

The request-entry form on the home page asks for your LinkedIn profile and a short note about what you are building. We use it to decide whether to invite you into the SYE community. It is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database and is visible only to the people who run SYE.

After submitting a request, you can choose to join the SYE WhatsApp community. WhatsApp is run by Meta under its own terms and privacy policy, not ours, and other members of the group can see your name and number.

When you submit a hackathon project

The project submission form, which is only for accepted teams, asks for your project and team name, team members, a contact email, the tracks you are competing in, links to your demo, code and product, a written traction summary, and the screenshots you upload as proof. Organisers and judges review it in order to score your project. It is stored in the same Cloudflare D1 database.

What we do not do

There are no analytics, no advertising, no tracking cookies and no third-party marketing tools on this site. We do not sell your data or share it with anyone outside the people running SYE, and we do not use it to build a profile of you.

How long we keep it

Applications and submissions are kept while we are running the community and the current hackathon, and are deleted once they are needed for neither. You can ask us to delete yours sooner at any time.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to michelleqiangzhang@gmail.com and we will handle it. For data held by Cloudflare, Google or Meta, contact them directly.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
